Most gamers know about the corporate gaming stores, but true gamers know the value of small, locally-owned gaming stores.
Stores like Game Fortress, in Arvada, are not known just for their ability to carry major gaming titles at reasonable prices. They are the best destination for older games.
Game Fortress has been in Arvada for three years now, and this store carries games for consoles such as the Nintendo 64 (way more options than just the popular SuperMario), Nintendo DSL, GameCube, Super Nintendo, Gameboy games of all types (DS, color, etc). Game Fortress allows you to browse a solid stock of games at your leisure that would otherwise be hard to find unless you enjoyed shopping online and paying for shipping and handling.
Jay Gerbino, the store's owner and current manager, has high hopes for the stores future in the year 2012. He is immersing himself in a series of projects that will make the Game Fortress more visible and accessible to customers.
As you can see in the photo, he has designed a banner that is based on an actual photo of the brick wall that hangs proudly by the front door. Gerbino added that he has a second banner on its way, and he is in the midst of building his very own giant inflatable Mario that he hopes will soon soar over the top of the store.
Perhaps what is most exciting is the planned police flood light, which Gerbino only just got approved by the Arvada city council, which he hopes to shine batman style with a steel mario face inplanted in the light fixture in space of the bat symbol.
