One of the great things about GenCon is that you can hear big announcements and here the latest on upcoming projects from the big names like my article on the upcoming Pathfinder MMO (pt1 and pt2). However, it's also very cool to discover all the lesser known games from the extra passionate starving artist that is the indie game designer. GenCon is crammed with them. Matt and I met a designer, named Lee Garvin, who was sharing a booth with Armor Class 10 t-shirts (you can see his banner for his other game, "Badass Zombie Hunters" in those photos). Garvin has a Kickstarter campaign that is near a close that needs your help.
"Tales from the Floating Vagabond" is an dice RPG based on a interstellar bar named the Floating Vagabond. This bar is built on an asteroid in the middle of the universe and has a
"…Walker Random Dimensional Portal Generator on the door, and now, whenever someone walks into a tavern, pub, gin-joint, or speakeasy in any universe, at any time (past, present, or future), on any world, there's a chance they could end up walking into the Floating Vagabond. Once these folks arrive, an unreasonably large percentage of them wind up embroiled in ridiculous adventures involving gratuitous explosions and acts of desperate derring-do."
(quote seen on the Kickstarter page)This comedic RPG is in need of funding to create a grander 2nd version. You can tell by the number of backers already and by reading the comments on Kickstarter, that this is already a well loved game, but Garvin wants to kick it up a nitch and get it to the masses who haven't heard of it yet. Here are some of the goodies you can earn by helping out (taken directly from the Kickstarter):
