Have no doubt, this is a rivalry game between two very capable SEC East powers. There is much history between these teams, the Gators and Volunteers have faced off against each other every September since 1992 -- except for 2001, when the game was rescheduled to December due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Both teams have gotten their seasons off to rocky starts this year and are looking for a win to get things back on track. The Volunteers suffered their worst loss in over 100 years last week on the road against the second-ranked Oregon Ducks.
Meanwhile, the Gators are coming off a bye week. Their last game was a 21-16 loss against Miami University, an upset that has raised questions about the team on both offense and defense.
Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel knows what Florida must do in order to win: "No one's been able to stop us when we haven't had a turnover or a penalty, so just worry about us first and then taking care of the other team second," he told the Gainesville Sun. "If we can handle us, we'll be fine."
"This will be the best offensive line we will face this year," Florida coach Will Muschamp said. "Our guys felt that way last year after we played them."
