Leaking scoops to bloggers is standard operating procedure today. The Game Changers have their own standing, challenging all traditional notions of character, loyalty and professionalism. The Department of Justice is a hotbed of game changers and their radical racial politics. Their big lies and propaganda campaigns appear to be condoned by Eric Holder and his Assistant Deputy, Thomas Perez.
Obama political appointee Julie Fernandez is the most likely leak, spewing hatred to humiliate the Bush administration. More specifically and inexplicably, she has successfully targeted career attorney Christopher Coates, exiling him to Charleston, SC. In a performance worthy of Saturday Night Live, Fernandez writhed and ticed her way through a farewell speech Coates made at a luncheon in his honor. Her angst was obvious, and unique among the 40 or so attendees, who did not share her discomfort.
Fernandez was so distressed, she immediately called her friend, Adam Serwer at The American Prospect, and reported her reaction to Coates' defiant last stand as startled. Or maybe it was her husband who made the call (more on that later). Certainly they were the only ones exchanging glances in disbelief.
On Tuesday, employees in the Voting Rights Section a held goodbye lunch for Coates. At the end of the lunch, employees went around the conference table expressing their appreciation to Coates. At the end, the attendees were startled when Coates pulled out a binder and began reciting a written defense of his decision to file the New Black Panther and Noxubee cases. Voting Section employees exchanged glances in disbelief.
"It felt like he was summing up to a jury," one attendee said.
That was Fernandez's version of the truth. Consider the source. Her perspective may be skewed. Think Kristen Wiig's portrayal of Susan, one of Wiig's strange and often overly excited characters. Imagine Fernandez squealing Coates! Bush! like a crazy Wiig character.
Fernandez's husband works in the Civil Rights Division, although he does not report directly to her. Avner Shapiro did work in the Voting Rights Section prior to his current postion in the Criminal Section. He might be considered a reliable source for left wing blogs bent on propagating lies about the Bush administration and Christopher Coates'.
Lies about the Bush admin and Christopher Coates' are not enough for Fernandez and Shapiro. Promoting the racist policies of the Obama administration - selective enforcement of only white on black violations - like the dismissal of the Black Panthers and Noxubee cases are their avant guard.
Conveniently, together Fernandez and Shapiro are able to give any journalist two sources, and not have to worry about being found out or observed exchanging glances in disbelief. Except, of course, like Kristen Wiigs' characters, their behaviors give them away.
For a more objective account of Coates' speech, check out Hans Von Spakovsky's posts on the topic at National Review. Hans correctly retells Coates' objection to the racist policies of the Obama administration. If only white on black cases will be accepted while Obama is President, Coates' objects.
Selective enforcement of the law, including the Voting Rights Act, on the basis of race is just not fair and does not achieve justice.
That was enough to make Julie Fernandez twitch.
Leaking lies to liberal blogs, using character assassination to advance your own career and propagandizing for political gain are the modus operandi for game changers.
Change we can believe in?

when dealing with Fernandez you will need the urban dictionary. You may not want to go to Reid for an opinion.
Her name is spelled Fernandes genius.
Damon: Welcome! I am well known for spelling errors and appreciate any corrections. I cannot resist, though, if you are a Fernandes aka Fernandez colleague/friend/acquaintance - is your name correctly spelled Daemon?
