Gamba Ristorante named one of Opentable.com's 100 most romantic restaurants

One of the 100 most-romantic restaurants in the country is right here in your own backyard! That's right, OpenTable diners voted Gamba Ristorante in Merrillville, Ind., one of 2014's "Most Romantic Restaurants in America." OpenTable is touted to be the leading service for online dining reservations. The top 100 were named after analyzing more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified diners of nearly 19,000 restaurants across the country.

How perfect is this for Valentine's Day or anytime you want to make an impression on the love of your life? Gamba’s intimate dining room, dim lighting and neutral color scheme enhance the menu offerings and wine list.

"We strive to give every diner an experience that exhilarates the senses and brings friends, families and couples together. It is quite profound the way a meal prepared and served with the utmost care can accomplish this goal," says executive chef Mike Rueth.

Owner Benito Gamba and Rueth have developed a Valentine's Day menu that is sure to achieve those goals.

"Valentine's Day is one of the busiest nights of the year at Gamba, so in addition to our 80-seat restaurant, the banquet rooms will be used for regular dining in order to preserve the standard intimate ambience of the main dining room," Benito Gamba says.

While regular menu items will be available (read my five-star review of Gamba Ristorante to get a sense of this), special Valentine's Day offerings include branzino and seabass, flown in specially from the Mediterranean Sea, halibut, colossal 20-ounce lobster tails, ultra-premium Kobe beef and more.

Reservations for late evening are still available for Valentine's Day, Friday, Feb. 14, but the same menu will be served on Saturday night, Feb. 15 where most times are still open. Reservations can be made by phone at 219-736-5000 or on OpenTable.com.
