The Academy of Friends held their 31st annual Academy of Friends Gala last night at Galleria Design Center in San Francisco. The event attracted 1300 guests and raised much-needed funds for the organizations that the Academy of Friends supports.
In addition to watching the Oscars, the event featured a silent auction which included jewelry, vacation packages and fashions. Sixteen of the Bay Area’s most popular restaurants and wineries provided food and drinks for the events. There was even a live drawing to win a 2011 Audi! Ticket prices were $250 for the general public.
Beneficiaries of the event included AIDS Legal Referral Panel, Maitri, Project Inform, Positice Resource Center, Shanti, Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center, Huckleberry Youth Programs, Face to Face, Tenderloin Health and Women’s HIV Program at UCSF.
Sponsors of the event included Nordstrom, Merrill Lynch, RoyalMotorSales, Moon Mountain Vodka, Wild 94.9, Blueprint Studios, 98.1 KISS and Star 101 to name a few.
Over the history of the Academy of Friends gala, the event has raised over $8 million for over 70 HIV/AIDS charity organizations.
