The Antlers Hilton and downtown Colorado Springs welcomed science fiction, fantasy, and horror enthusiasts to their annual GalaxyFest Convention this weekend, Feb 7-10. There are still tickets available for Sunday to revel with the fellow nerds, steampunks, and superheroes. Friday and Saturday have already been filled with fascinating stories from the celebrity guests, friends, families, and a huge dealer’s room filled with amazing collectables and toys. Slated to appear tomorrow are Dr. Who’s Frazer Hines and Colin Spaull, Neverending Story’s Noah Hathaway, and plenty of games, panels, and activities for all ages.
Sci-fi conventions are the chance for fans to come together and share their common interests. For some it is a chance to catch up with old friends, for others it is the opportunity to show off their costume making prowess. Unbelievably hard work and love are poured in to the making of the costumes and most can barely make down the hallways without being stopped for photo ops. GalaxyFest even had fun and intricate sets with which to have a picture taken. Droids, stormtroopers, and hallways filled with amazing writers and artists sharing their crafts. It was a wonderful way to get lost in another world for a day.
