Galaxy rally late to 1-1 draw with Fire

Electric. That's the best, if not only word to describe the action at Toyota Park Saturday, as a sold-out crowd of 21,068 would witness the Fire and Galaxy exchange dramatic late goals to draw 1-1.

Substitute Colins John would nail a goal at the 88th minute to give the Fire (6-7-7) a short-lived 1-0 lead, and the opportunity to steal a short-handed win against the Los Angeles squad. Gonzalo Segares had taken a red card for elbowing in the 23rd minute, leading to the insertion of Nery Castillo.

This was coupled with the strong net play from Sean Johnson, who's defense of the ensuring penalty kick was a highlight of the game.

But the Galaxy (13-5-5) wouldn't go away quietly, staging a furious rally that ended with Omar Gonzalez hitting a header of a Landon Donovan corner kick in the 91st that let them steal back a point.

The Fire will be back in action Wednesday, looking for a win at home against Toronto FC.
