The annual GAL Open House welcome-to-the-season event is coming up fast on April 3 at the Centurion Conference and Event Centre from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

GAL runs golf leagues for women with the goal of being more than a network resource to help Ottawa-area women improve their games.

GAL has been designed by its founder Marie Seabrook and league co-ordinator Lisa Speigel to meet the social and scheduling needs of active women in the national capital region.

When the get-together kicks off at 6 p.m., attendees can begin to network and meet their captains for the 2014 season while getting re-acquainted with league friends over finger foods and refreshing beverages from a cash bar.

A fashion show follows and there will be door prizes and more for attendees to discover.

And the first 100 women to arrive receive a free sleeve of golf balls and a gift certificate. Gift certificate here:

The Centurion Conference and Event Centre is located at 170 Colonnade Dr., South.

Players can get a quick peek at what GAL is all about tomorrow when the golf league network is featured on CTV Morning Live at 9:15 a.m.

Seabrook will be talking about the benefits of joining and discussing the latest golf fashions and accessories.

GAL will also be at The National Women Show at the Ottawa Convention Centre from March 29-30.

Seabrook and Speigel will be giving away two gift baskets - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Visitors to their display at Booth 901 can enter a draw to win a gift basket worth $300. It includes 2014 pay-as- you-play memberships.

Here are GAL’s membership options:

A) GAL Express Pay: For the committed weekly golfer who plays at the same location with the same group every week. A one-time payment covers registration for the entire season and green fees at one location for nine holes of golf either in a morning league or an evening league. This upfront commitment ensures playing regularly.

PLUS - GAL Traveller Option: All the features of GAL Express Pay, except that it is a Tuesday morning travelling league rotating among six courses (Canadian, Greensmere, Loch March, Pakenham, Stonebridge and The Marshes).

B) GAL Pay-as-you-play: For golfers whose schedule changes often or who simply want to play somewhere different with new people every week. A payment at the start of the season covers the registration fee only. Golfers pay their green fees at the golf course each time they play.

PLUS - GAL Traveller Option: All the features of GAL Pay-as-you-play, except that it is a Tuesday evening travelling league rotating among these courses (Eagle Creek, Greensmere, Hautes Plaines, Kanata, Pakenham, Predator, Stonebridge and The Marshes).

TOP-UP BONUS: GAL Express Pay members in good standing can add the flexibility of GAL Pay-as-you-play membership to their account for an additional $35 fee annually.

SPECIAL BONUS: With GAL’s Referral Program, members receive $25 and a green fee from participating golf clubs for each new member they refer to GAL.
