GAL Golf Leagues plans to put the hearty in party on Sept. 8 when the women’s organization celebrates its 18th season by inviting everyone to the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club for the GAL 18th Annual Charity Golf Tournament and End of Season Banquet.
Lunch happens between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 and play begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. The cost is $140 per player and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, range balls, lunch and dinner. Those dropping by for dinner pay only $40.
The format is a four-person best ball scramble and there will be contests, a silent auction, raffle, prizes and a 50-50 draw.
The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner makes it to the table starting at 7 p.m.
The event is open to GAL members and their female guests.
Player can register by visiting www.galgolf.ca and clicking on the Members Lounge in the Special Events area and selecting GAL Charity Golf Tournament.
To bring a guest, select GAL Charity Golf Tournament and Guest. For dinner only, select End of Season Banquet.
The deadline for registration is Aug. 30.
GAL is professionally run by a management team and was founded by Marie Seabrook — a veteran entrepreneur who founded the organization because she wanted Ottawa-area women to gain flexible choices, easy scheduling and valuable extras while enjoying the game of golf.
GAL has been designed for women golfers of all levels. The following is a guide to courses that best suit the various needs of players:
- New golfer: Raceview, Meadows, Canadian, MarchWood
- Advanced Beginner: Raceview, Meadows, Canadian, Amberwood
- Intermediate and advanced: Canadian, Cedarhill, Raceview, and Meadows
- For travelling/touring links, Tuesday morning Express Pay, and Tuesday evening Pay-as-you-play: Eagle Creek, Greensmere, Hautes Plaines, Kanata, Pakenham, Predator, Stonebridge and The Marshes
