Daytona Beach Police say a suspect in a Gainesville murder case was found cut and later died at a Daytona home Monday. A report on the Police Department website says Daytona Beach Police had been tracking the suspect in the area by phone early Monday afternoon. Police say the Volusia County 911 Center then received a call around 3:30 p.m., about a possible suicide at a beachside home south of Silver Beach on Dundee Road. Police report that first responders found the suspect “…in the bathroom bleeding profusely from a self-inflicted (knife) wound to the neck…” and also from cuts to his wrist. Daytona Beach Police say the suspect was pronounced dead by Fire Rescue shortly after their arrival at the scene. Detectives from Gainesville were on their way to Daytona Beach according to police following the incident, and the suspect’s identity was not being released early Monday night until relatives could be notified first.
