The play was adapted for London's Royal Shakespeare Company by Miami's own award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney and Bijan Shebani. McCraney, a Voices United and New World School of the Arts High School alum, who will also direct.
I enjoyed seeing McCraney's The Brothers Size when it was performed at GableStage in 2011. McCraney, who was already known in New York, has been making a name for himself in his native Miami since his play's debut.
Tickets for GableStage's Hamlet range from $37.50 - $50.00.
The play stars Alana Arenas, Mimi Davila, Ryan George, Peter Haig, Arielle Hoffman, Dylan L. Kammerer, James Samuel Randolph and Edgar Miguel Sanchez.
Performances will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. There will be no 7 p.m. performance on Sunday, January 13. For tickets, call (305) 445-1119 or visit http://gablestage.org/
GableStage is located in the eastern section of the Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Avenue, Coral Gables, 33134
After the 5-week run at GableStage, there will be free performances for many thousands of Miami-Dade County Public School students at two other venues--the Joseph Caleb Auditorium in Liberty City and the South Miami-Dade Arts & Cultural Center in Cutler Bay.
