Takedown Wrestling takes to the road -- to Iowa City -- with a focus on the Iowa Hawkeyes this Saturday, Oct. 5, the weekly radio broadcast announced Wednesday.
The show will broadcast live from the Airliner Bar and Restaurant in downtown Iowa City.
Join Scott Casber, Brad Johnson, Mark Bimson and award-winning wrestling writer Dan McCool live this Saturday 9-11 a.m. Central and 10 a.m.-noon Eastern.
The guest lineup indicates a distinctive black-and-gold Hawkeye flavor... but the guest list isn't limited to former Iowa wrestlers and coaches.
Takedown Wrestling opens with Luke Eustice, the Hawkeye Wrestling Club’s Director of Operations... followed at 9:15 by the one and only Dan Gable, 1972 Olympic gold medalist wrestler and legendary Hawkeye head wrestling coach. At 9:35, it's Mark Reiland, head coach at Iowa City West High, who made a name for himself on the mats at Iowa.
At 10:00, the featured guest will be Joe Williams, two-time Big Ten titlewinner and three-time NCAA champ at Iowa. At 10:20, the show welcomes some non-Iowa guests, starting with Cary Kolat, one of the all-time grappling greats from Pennsylvania's Lock Haven University who's now on the staff for the North Carolina Tar Heels... followed at 10:40 by Teague Moore, American University head coach who's also co-founder of the new Tour ACW (Association of College Wrestlers) which will have its premiere event in Pittsburgh Oct. 20.
