U.S. Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga) voted today in favor of H.R. 668, a bill that would require the President to provide in his annual budget submission to Congress an estimate of the cost per taxpayer of the deficit.
The legislation passed the U.S. House of Representatives 392 to 28. All the “nay” votes came from Democrats, all 229 Republicans voted in favor of it, as did 163 Democrats.
“The American people have paid the price of failed leadership in Washington for far too long,” Collins said in a statement. “While it’s easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment, the facts are easy to understand. President Obama’s out-of-control spending habits are crippling our economy and placing an unquestionable amount of financial hardship on my children and yours. Every American taxpayer deserves to know the individual price tag our Commander-in-chief is creating through his inaction to balance a federal budget and ignite our national economy.”
All of Georgia representatives voted in favor of the bill except for Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga) who voted “present.”
Collins represents Georgia’s 9th congressional district.
