A Wenzel Strategies poll conducted over a week ago shows former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel as a front-runner in a hypothetical primary race to replace U.S. Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga).
According to the poll, Handel received 39.8 percent and state Senator Judson Hill 12.5 percent of support, while all the other candidates received less than five percent.
Most importantly, 36.8 percent were not sure about their pick, and majority of the candidates at this point have very low name recognition.
Price is expected to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate any day now - to replace retiring senior Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga), leaving his 6th congressional district seat up for grabs.
The Wenzel telephone survey, conducted Jan 30 to Feb. 1, 2013, has a +/-5.48 margin of error.
