A classic from the 1999 WTO in Seattle
It is the people who will deliver us from the men who have been corrupting us, and the people themselves will win their liberty.
-Louise Michel
Residents at the western end of the ExCeL estate will have difficulty accessing their homes, whether by vehicle or on foot, because of road closures at the site and also with searching and screening taking place. They will be required to carry two forms of identification/proof of address (one of which must be photographic) to gain entry through security cordons.Residents in surrounding areas will not be required to carry ID unless they are planning to travel into the ExCeL estate for work.
Officers are trained to be on guard against attack, to regard every situation, no matter how seemingly benign, as a threat situation. The lesson is that the public are your enemy. That mindset appeared to dominate at the G20 protests.

Mike, I can't say that I agree with all your articles, but I enjoy reading what you have to say. It provided a balanced opinion on the subjects you cover.
Jason,
Thank you. I'm just trying to present some viewpoints outside of the liberal/conservative spectrum, without boring anyone to death.
Keep on providing your prespective on the mainstream issues.
Also, check out my stuff as the Pittsburgh Outdoor Recreation Examiner.
I'm going to be doing a gun-related article in June for everyone's viewing pleasure.
Will do(both). I try to avoid the obscure stuff, unless someone needs some consulate called or something.
It's hard to root for the NRA most of the time, but the Brady people's involvement makes it much easier. The NRA convention was very fun when it was here a few years ago.
thanks for doing this report. this is some of the first analysis i've seen a blogger do in a very mainstream way touching on how this will not be good for our city. it is also nice to see a different perspective.
Joe,
Thank you for reading. Most people in places that host these kinds of elite summits, usually decide it was not worth it.
The politicians who profit from these kinds of things speak of "the benefits" but they usually don't mention that they are the only beneficiaries.
People generally don't like to be reminded that a handful of people are "more human" than the are.
