G-Star unveils its Raw for the Oceans collection

The Dutch denim company G-Star launches its eco-friendly collection at chose Pitti Uomo. The Dutch brand got its start in Amsterdam in 1989, produces urban clothing specializing in denim clothing and it was in 1996 the brand introduced raw denim jeans that were untreated and directly from the factory.

The brand has used musicians as models the its brand just this February the brand collaborated with Pharrell Williams one of the investors for Bionic Yarn who produces textiles from plastic waste. The two join forces with the goal of collecting waste to use it in producing rolls of fabric. For this collection
G-Star has used 10 tons of recycled ocean plastic to produce fabrics in order to prevent plastic from accumulating on the bottom of the oceans.

Other famous faces include Liv Tyler, Girls' Generation, World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, Clémence Poésy and musician Sergio Pizzorno.

The G-start collection will be available in soft to touch denim in mazarine blue and black in for both men and women. The brand will also have a flagship pieces the A-crotch trench pricing for the new collection ranges from from $39.90 euros to $269.90 euros. According to G-Star "The Raw for the Oceans collection brings together a wide range of items, including jeans, bomber jackets, trench coats, t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats, all made from Bionic Yarn,” said the brand in a statement.
