Saturday, G-20 protestors in Toronto set cars on fire, threw bricks and smashed windows trying to get into the G-20 summit; police are expecting more protest demonstrations on Sunday.
"I do not believe that the individuals bent on vandalism and violence in our city have finished with their intent, so we will remain vigilant," Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said Saturday night during a press conference.
Over 300 people were arrested on Saturday, which brings the total to 412 since June 18; no serious injuries have been reported.
"These criminals rely on the anonymity of hiding in a larger group of the curious and the naive," Blair said.
Tear gas was used after a group of protesters "engaged in acts of destruction," Blair said.
The police also used pepper spray, tear gas and bean bag pellets in some cases in an attempt to stop the protestors.
