For the last 11 years, Sean Carlson and company have been putting on one of the best music festivals in Southern California. Originally called "F Yeah Fest", the festival officially changed its name to "FYF Fest" after it moved to the L.A. Historic State Park from the Echoplex in 2009. And while Carlson has stated that he is not interested in becoming "Coachella-sized", last year's 10th anniversary brought together over 30,000 music lovers from across the state and that number is always growing.
Los Angeles' favorite annual summer music festival is quickly approaching and the official lineup has been announced. Taking place on the weekend of August 23rd and 24th , FYF Fest and Goldenvoice are bringing you The Strokes and Phoenix as headliners. Additionally, the new venue has also been unveiled as Los Angeles Sports Arena & Exposition Park; making this the first time in four years that the festival will not be taking place at Los Angeles Historic Park, as it is currently under construction.
While the headliners might make the entire weekend seem like an alt-rock paradise, have no fear electronic music fans, you will be more than adequately represented! Day one includes acts like indietronic Swedish darlings Little Dragon, "intelligent dance music" producer Tycho, mid-Florida electronic hip hop artist XXYYXX, and DJ Harvey, while day two is no less impressive, boasting artists like: English remix artist Jamie xx, Brooklyn-based electro-pop duo Tanlines, electro-noise rock band The Blood Brothers (briefly reuniting for this event, to the elation of MANY!), and the legendary Flying Lotus.
Tickets went on sale Thursday, May 22 at 12 p.m. PDT, with weekend passes going for $129. Whether you've been to FYF every year for the past 10 years or this will be your first time, do yourself a favor and watch their video from last year to help get you in the mood! Check out the full lineup here.
