In honor of their upcoming downloadable content for “Assassin’s Creed 3”, “The Tyranny of King Washington: The Infamy”, Ubisoft is running a cross promotion with another of their games, “Ghost Recon Online”. On Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, Ubisoft announced that they are releasing DLC for “Ghost Recon Online” that lets the player dress their character in an assassin inspired outfit, complete with the series’ iconic pointed hood.
In the “Assassin’s Creed” games, there’s a tremendous focus on stealth, with blending into the crowd being one of the many ways to escape from danger. The assassin outfit in “Ghost Recon Online” is clearly more about style than function. With the guns, and the straps, and the high tech gear, there’s no way that someone wearing this outfit would stay inconspicuous for very long.
As I pointed out in my article on Feb. 7, 2013, the CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot confirmed that the next installment of the “Assassin’s Creed” series would be moving forward in time, and focus on a new main character when it releases some time before April 2014. Could it be possible that the next game will take place in modern day, with an outfit somewhat like this?
It’s far more likely that the next game will still take place in the past, perhaps playing as a pirate as one rumor suggests. It’s impossible to know for sure until more information is revealed. Until then, gamers will have to be content with speculating to their heart’s desire.
Below is the press release from Ubisoft:
