Every day there are thousands of homeless pets in shelters in metro Atlanta who all have the same wish - a forever home. They are dreaming of waking up in a home where they are loved and cherished and are a member of the family.
Since February is the month we celebrate love, I will be featuring pets from local shelters and rescue groups who want to be your furry Valentine this year. These sweethearts want nothing more than their very own human and a warm place to sleep at night.
Today’s featured pet is Odyssey from Furkids. Odyssey is a two year old male domestic short hair kitty who is FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) positive. Here is more about Odyssey from the Furkids’ website:
Odyssey is a handsome gray tabby boy who was rescued from Gwinnett County animal control. He is a young guy who is a little shy, but friendly toward humans. He has tested positive for FIV, but he is healthy and strong, and there is no reason to fear this diagnosis. Odyssey will receive lots of love and attention while he waits for his forever family to find him. This will build his confidence even further so that when you meet him, you will be ready to take him home with you. He is very thankful to have this opportunity to be adopted. So won't you help Odyssey complete his odyssey, which is to find safety, security, and a wonderful place to call home with the purrrfect family for him.
The following information on FIV+ cats is from the Furkids' Facebook page: “Furkids is one of only a few animal rescue organizations in Georgia that has a location dedicated location to house FIV+ cats. Through public awareness and education, our goal is to place our FIV+ cats into loving, permanent homes where they can flourish. The first thing to realize is that FIV is not a death sentence! Adopting an FIV+ cat is virtually the same as adopting any other cat — they are affectionate, beautiful, funny, playful, and special in their own unique ways.” Click here to learn more about FIV+ cats from the Best Friends Animal Society website.
