The 23rd annual Furry Skurry takes place Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Kettering Business Park on the grounds of the National Composite Center (off Wilmington Pike, near Stan the Donut Man). There will be vendors, pet products, friendly competitions, pet demonstrations and more, but the main attraction at Furry Skurry is the 5K walk/run! Bring out your dogs and get moving for a good cause-all proceeds benefit the animals at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. Registration fee for the walk is $30 per person. Youth registration is available for $20 (for those ages 13 to 18) and children under 12 are free. You can also register as a supporter, attending the event without running or walking. Day-of’ registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K run begins at 8:30 a.m. The 1 mile walk begins at 10 a.m., and you may register a team or as an individual.
Fun competitions with prizes are conducted through the event, in categories such as best trick, best dressed and best tail wagger. Door prizes will also be given away. Rescue organizations such as the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, SICSA and the Animal Resource Center will be bringing some of their adoptable pets, and many more rescue operations will be on hand as well.
This is a family event that promises fun for everyone. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome, and event organizers look forward to hundreds of people and their dogs.
If you'd like to join in the fun but are not interesting in walking, that’s OK too, there are plenty of fun things to do and see at this event. Bring your four-legged friends and enjoy a day of fun in the sun during this great fundraiser!
