On March 22-23, animal lovers in metro Atlanta will have a special opportunity to tour Georgia’s largest cage-free, no-kill shelter for homeless cats, when Furkids holds its annual Open House and tour. Lots of Furkids’ cats and dogs will be on site for meeting and greeting potential volunteers, adopters and foster caregivers.

The Open House will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. The Furkids’ Cat Shelter is located at 2650 Pleasantdale Road Suite 8, Atlanta, 30340. The Open House will feature lunch available for purchase, children’s activities (face painting and a bouncy house) and the popular “Bark ‘n Bite” bake sale featuring treats from some of Atlanta’s top bakeries. Proceeds from the event will support the Furkids’ operation, including spaying and neutering services.

Guests are asked to bring a gift for the animals of the most frequently requested items – paper towels, trash bags and Clorox wipes. Go to the Furkids wish list on the website to see more items they need. You can also bring your donations for the Furkids Thrift Store.

If you are thinking about adopting, volunteering or donating to Furkids, the Open House is a great opportunity to get to know more about the Furkids’ staff, volunteers and animals.

During this year’s Open House, pre-approved adopters can adopt cats from the Shelter at no cost – all adoption fees are waived. Click here for more information on this promotion. Over 250 cats will be waiting for you at the Shelter – ready to convince you to take them home with you.

In 2013, Furkids saved 1,597 dogs and cats and found forever homes for 1,351 dogs and cats. Click here to read more about Furkids’ mission and history.
