Funny Video: Norm MacDonald stops by Conan O'Brien's 'Tonight Show' with late congratulations

Norm MacDonald: Best talk show host EVUR?

It's often said that "It's the thought that counts", and that's surely what Norm MacDonald was thinking when he visited Conan O'Brien on last night's "Tonight Show".  With Conan's departure from the NBC network just days away, Norm showed up to finally drop off the gift basket he'd purchased for Conan upon coming onboard the "Tonight Show" last June.  Check out the video below, my gentle Examiner readers...

Norm MacDonald may have never found success on his own sitcom (he's tried it a few times now, and they never seem to catch on the way, say, "Friends" did, probably because Norm's humor is too smart for those audiences), but he makes for one of the all-time best talk show guests.  Check out his appearance just last night on "The Tonight Show":

For those that remain unaware, MacDonald's long been a friend to any show that Conan hosts.  Letterman, too: back when Norm got canned by NBC-- for mocking Dick Ebersol's buddy O.J. Simpson repeatedly on SNL-- Norm went on Dave's show to express his stunned response to the firing.  His appearances on Conan's show, though, have been the thing of legend.  If you haven't already seen it, check out this clip from what appears to be 1903 where a clearly drunk Norm MacDonald rattles off what may be the world's best Carrot Top joke (it's towards the end):

So, it was great to see Norm back to visit Conan on last night's show.  It's likely that this last week will be filled with great "Goodbye" moments for Conan and his fans on "The Tonight Show", so be sure to stay watching all week long.  Then abandon "The Tonight Show" completely the moment Conan leaves and prepare yourself for September, when he's expected to debut a new talk show over on FOX.

For those who are too young - or were too uninterested, at the time - to recall, it might help to get some background on this story. Read all about how Leno acquired The Tonight Show gig, back in 1993.

"a clearly drunk norm" he says in interviews that he never goes on shows or does interviews while drunk. and that he never touches drugs of any kind. he just naturally slurs when he talks.
