Halloween may be known for ghosts and ghouls, but on Oct. 31, “Live with Kelly and Michael” turned the spooky holiday into one filled with laughs. One of the best parts of Live’s Halloween show in 2013 was Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan’s new music video set to the undeniably catchy song “What Does the Fox Say?” All Voices wrote on Thursday, “Kelly Ripa and Michael tackled that question and entertained ‘Live with Kelly & Michael’ fans Thursday with their annual, over-the-top Halloween special.” The “What Does the Fox Say” video is not only well produced, but it is also very funny, earning this week’s Funny TV Clip of the Week honors.
The latest viral sensation is a stuck-in-your-head-forever tune called “What Does the Fox Say?" Norwegian brothers Bard and Vegard Ylvisaker created the viral sensation for the premiere of their talk show in Sweden, as part of a joke. However, the success of “What Does the Fox Say?” is no laughing matter. As of Nov. 1, it’s racked up more than 181 million views on YouTube. Quite simply, the viral video is maddeningly infectious and just plain funny.
“What Does the Fox Say?” is such a part of pop culture right now that Michael Gelman, executive producer of “Live with Kelly & Michael” decided to make it one of the stars of his Halloween 2013 show. Dressed as foxes, Ripa and Strahan lip-synched the song. The special effects were great and the two hosts seemed to fly through the air at times. At the end, Michael J. Fox yanked off his own fox mask and surprised the audience and at-home viewers.
Other celebrities that also made cameo appearances on Live’s Halloween special included Ian Ziering, Cher, Robin Williams, Mike Tyson, Robert De Niro, Julianne Hough, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Long Island Medium, plus Mario Lopez and Maria Menounos from “Extra.” Overall, the entire hour was very funny and delivered as promised – the biggest and best Halloween special ever.
