Over the years, Gyllenhaal's proved himself to be one of the best actors currently working in Hollywood, but he's still best-known for his work in Donnie Darko, a cult-film if there ever was one. His next-most famous role, however, was in a film many saw but some still claim they haven't seen: Heath Ledger's gay cowboy-lover in Brokeback Mountain. Some actors would have run screaming from such an intimate, graphic performance, but not our boy Gyllenhaal: he welcomed that gay cowboy role with open arms. And tonight's Funny Photo proves that Gyllenhaal's got a helluva sense of humor about it. See it below, my gentle Examiner readers...
First of all, we owe a tip o' the hat to the glorious Vince over at Film Drunk, a website all of you should be reading daily (and you are, if you've followed our previous instructions): he's the one that posted this hilarious shot of Jake Gyllenhaal, and even if he didn't take it, we're more than happy to give the Film Drunk guys credit for it. This might just be the greatest Gyllenhaal photo ever uploaded.
What we have over on the left (click the "Slideshow" box to see it biggie-sized) is a recent photo of Jake Gyllenhaal-- one of our favorite actors currently working in Hollywood, even if we still can't figure out how the Source Code ending makes any goddamned sense-- that seems to indicate that Jake has a good sense of humor about his role in Brokeback Mountain. It's not common to see a star with this kinda sense of humor about himself, and that's always refreshing. For the eighteenth time today, we must salute Jake Gyllenhaal (we salute Jake Gyllenhaal a lot).
As always, you can stay tuned for more Funny Photos in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead (assuming some angry bartender doesn't assassinate your humble Comedy Examiner first), and-- also "as always"-- you can send in your own Funny Photos for a chance to have them featured here at Comedy Examiner HQ. Just think how jealous your friends are gonna be! Stay tuned for more, ladies.
