Funny News: Conan O'Brien asked to prom by 11th grade fan, but says wife forced him to decline

For the record, Jay Leno hasn't been asked to ANY proms.  So, there.

We can take a break from all that other nonsense for a minute, can't we?  Good.  Here's what's going on: The picture above is an actual letter that Conan O'Brien sent to Nikki Simmons, an 11th grader looking for a prom date back in 2003 (that date explains the Late Night With Conan O'Brien stationery and the reference to Conan having recently been hitched).  Apparently, Nikki was having trouble landing a date and reached out to the former Tonight Show host in the hopes that he'd be able to accompany her to prom.  As you can see in Coco's response above, he sadly had to turn her down, citing the fact that his wife didn't really like the idea of him "going to prom with cute 16 year old girls".  Which is, y'know, kinda weird.  What sort of overbearing ball-and-chain would be against something like that?  Sounds like someone's on lockdown.
