Last weekend, mass hysteria spread (only amongst idiots; the rest of us went about our business as though nothing of any import were taking place...which it wasn't) when Harold Camping convinced a large number of easily-led morons that the Rapture was about to take place. Camping spent over $100m advertising this non-existent Rapture, and when it didn't happen, everyone who'd been mocking him and his followers all along felt vindicated. But how would most of the internet's denizens deal with the Rapture if it really did happen? Find out below, my gentle Examiner readers...
This might just be a first for Comedy Examiner HQ: We've had funny videos, funny interviews, funny commentaries, funny photos, and funny smells, but we've never-- at least, not as far as your humble Comedy Examiner can recall-- featured a "Funny Cartoon". The thing is, the vast majority of cartoons that you see on the internet are dangerously unfunny: y'know, the kind of stuff that makes Family Circus seems like the most brilliant, edgy comedy writing around. But the one we received earlier this week from eagle-eyed Comedy Examiner reader "Rick M." laughs at that trend, pokes it in the eye, and steals its lunch money.
You can see the cartoon for yourselves by clicking that link over there on the left. Y'know, the one labeled "Slideshow". No, it's not really a "Slideshow"-- one photo (or, in this case, one cartoon) does not a slideshow make-- but we've gotta put it there until our Examiner.com overlords decide to give us our in-line imaging rights back. I know, I know: you wish you could just look at it right here, on the main page. You're preachin' to the choir, folks.
This cartoon-- we weren't able to determine who it came from, as it was reader submitted, but our hat is off to whoever created it (drop us a line and we'll update with a link to the rest of your surely-awesome stuff)-- shows us exactly how anyone with anyone who considers themselves a part of "internet culture" might deal with the Rapture. Oh, hey, remember last weekend? When all those idiots thought the world was coming to an end? And that one idiot spent $100m warning everyone it was going to happen? Totally hilarious. More hilarious, in fact, than this cartoon.
Click the button, look at the funny picture, and stay tuned for more from Comedy Examiner HQ in the near future, folks: we've got a ton of "Funny Photos" (no more cartoons, sorry) to unload on you before we leave town for Memorial Day Weekend. While you're waiting on the next one, feel free to argue amongst yourselves about that Camping idiot and the Rapture until you feel that you've accomplished something. Toodles!
