Funeral services for 5-year-old Shaniya Nicole Davis will be held at 3:00pm today at the Manna Church in Fayetteville. The Reverend Johnny C. Davis will be officiating.
The public is invited to attend those who can’t attend may watch the funeral live on WRAL.com.
Shaniya’s Obituary describes a beautiful, sweet and loving child, who loved to play dress up and ride her scooter.
It is apparent that Shaniya was deeply loved and that she will be profoundly missed by anyone and everyone who ever met her.
A beautiful quote is included in her Obituary,
“You came into our lives for a little while. You left footprints on our hearts, and we will never be the same!”
On a personal note, I would like to pass this poem on to Shaniya’s family in this difficult time to convey my sincerest sympathy for their loss. There are no words that can heal your broken hearts, but I do hope this poem offers you some comfort. It helped me through a very difficult time, I hope it does the same for you.
Ascension
by Colleen Hitchcock
And if I go,
While you’re still here…
Know that I live on,
Vibrating to a different measure
-behind a thin veil you cannot see
through.
You will not see me,
So you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can
Soar together again,
-Both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its
fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your hear
…I will be there.

What a beautiful poem.
To Shaniya's family: I ached with you during the days and nights that Shaniya was gone. I cried when I learned that she will not be coming home to you. Know that Shaniya will live on certainly in your hearts and in the hearts of us who are so touched by her sweet presence. Bless you.
Beautiful poem, Lisa. Thank you for covering this child's horrific death where CPS failed this child miserably. We cannot allow her death to become "just another sad statistic." We have got to keep her memory alive by following the criminal court cases of these horrible, inhuman, "people," and I use that term loosely here. They're animals, not worthy of anything. I just hope when they go to prison they suffer 100 times what they put this child through. Once isn't enough. I want them to feel it every single day they're in prison which will hopefully be for the rest of their miserable, stinking lives.
i think that both of them should rot in the devils land kuz that is juz sad for sumone to do that n to the family i am realli prayin for u juz keep ur head up
