Tropico de Nopal Art Gallery is holding a fundraising party on Saturday, May 8th for award-winning Afro-Brazilian dance company Viver Brasil. The dance troupe specializes in traditional and contemporary forms of Afro-Brazilian dance, including dances that depict stories of the Orixas, or sacred African deities. Viver Brasil's presentations also include popular carnival dances such as the samba.
The event will include:
- Performances by Viver Brasil dancers and musicians, Samba Society with special guest Katia Moraes and Swing Brazil Tribe's Director/Singer Vida Vierra
- Screening of the short film "Ebony Goddess: Queen of Ile Aiye"
- Video exhibition of photos by Jorge Vismara
- Guest DJs, raffles, prizes and food
