This coming week, May 19-25, in Orlando local music includes a lot of fundraising. Whether it’s a show featuring live music to raise money for charity or beautification or an online fundraising platform for bands, there are many opportunities for music fans to give, make a difference and help support local music all in one shot.

Orlando singer/songwriter Billy Wright has a Kickstarter underway. He is hoping to raise $1450 by June 11 to finish his new EP. For donating, a music fan could get a private acoustic mini show at their home or chosen venue.

The Plush Monsters have a funding campaign on IndieGoGo to raise money for their debut CD. The Orlando band has until May 26 to raise $500 to get the album duplicated. For a small dollar investment a fan could get their very own song written for them.

Orlando based singer/songwriter Landon Pontius has a Kickstarter project going for his debut EP. He is hoping to raise $5000 by June 14 to finish his EP. There are some great rewards being offered to backers including a cover video, a private house show or a song.

The Kickstarter for Orlando band ELEVATORS already hit their initial goal of $1700 and the band has now added a stretch goal of $3000. The band’s campaign to fund their debut EP ends May 22.

There are also a couple of live music fundraising events this coming week. On Monday, Orlando singer/songwriter Carly Jo Jackson will be performing at Vineyard at Cascades of Isleworth in a benefit for BaseCamp and Harbor House of Central Florida. Will’s Pub is presenting Dumpster Dive on Sunday featuring live music from Risky Business as they raise money to beautify the sidewalks and alleys in the Mills 50 District.

There are a couple of other Orlando music news items this week. WERM is releasing their major label debut EP “Medication Generation” on May 19. Also, The Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival continues this week wrapping up on Sunday with their awards party.

Monday, May 19

Vineyard at Cascades of Isleworth - 4848 S. Apopka Vineland Road - Live music from singer/songwriter Carly Jo Jackson at the annual Wine Soiree benefitting BaseCamp and Harbor House of Central Florida at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and raffles.

The Beacham - 46 N. Orange Ave. - Live music from Ingrid Michaelson, Sugar & the Hi Lows and Storyman for this show.

Tanqueray’s - 100 S. Orange Ave. - Reggae Mondae with live music from Lake Worth Long Shots for this FREE 21+ show.

BB Kings Blues Club - 9101 International Dr. - Live music from NTUNES at 8 p.m.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - RPR presents open mic hosted by Joshua Snyder (The Smoking Jackets) with Rhenn Again at 8 p.m. This FREE event is 18+.

Tuesday, May 20

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - Twisted Tuesday with for this 18+ show. This FREE event includes live music from Buster Keaton and other entertainment as well as a home-cooked meal, with a $2 donation to the Red Lion Community Emergency Fund. The live music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Bombshell’s Tavern - 5405 Edgewater Dr. - Every Tuesday night is Ladies Night at Bombshell’s featuring a live performance from DJ Commons and Andrew Maff. The fun starts at 9 p.m.

Smiling Bison - 745 Bennett Road - Live music from the Chris Charles Jazz Trio at 7:30 p.m.
