There was a time when Hope’s Door was a 24 hour crisis line with no home. Hope’s Door housed victims of domestic abuse in hotels and then finally received a home in 1989 and has helped over 6,000 women and children and helped answer over 30,000 calls.
This Saturday, October 19, 2013 Hope’s Door, will host their annual fundraising gala themed “An Evening of Hope. The shelter and counseling center offers comprehensive programs and services to help victims of domestic violence. The gala will take place at the Malachite Showroom in the Hotel InterContinental Dallas. The Gin Blossoms will also be performing at the event.
“We are delivering a powerful message of hope and we are excited to bring the Gin Blossoms to Dallas to lighten up the night and treat our guests to a really fun, private concert,” said Deb SoRelle, co-event chair for An Evening of Hope.
The Arizona-native band is famous for their song “Hey Jealousy” among others. Individual tickets to the gala may be purchased for $175 each; tables of 10 are available for $1,750. Event proceeds support the charity’s mission to serve families who need domestic violence services.
In anticipation to the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year, Hope’s Door is partnering with Mercedes-Benz of Plano to give away a 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. Tickets to enter to win this brand-new model, which will not be in showrooms until mid-September, cost $100 and are available at www.hopesdoorinc.org. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. The winner will be drawn at the gala, but does not need to be present to win. Other gala sponsors include Rent-A-Center, Denbury Resources, Xtreme Collision and Forest Park Medical Center Dallas.
During the gala, a live and silent auction will be held to raise funds for the organization. Attendees have an opportunity to win a seven night Diamond and Safari Escape package for two to South Africa courtesy of Auction Shake Up. The auction will also feature many one-of-a-kind items as well as merchandize from brands such as Armani, Coach and James Avery.
Honorary chairman for this event is State Rep. Van Taylor. “There is no greater love than to love your neighbor and Hope’s Door embodies that. I am so proud to support a cause like this; your help within the community moves mountains,” said State Rep. Van Taylor. As a token of his support, Rep. Taylor will donate a Texas Constitutional Convention chair.
Guests are invited to don elegant cocktail attire. The evening will unfold with a special VIP party for all sponsor levels at 6:30 p.m. followed by cocktails and a silent auction at 7 p.m. Dinner will be served at 8 pm followed by a live auction and a private concert by The Gin Blossoms.
“Hope’s Door offers a great amount of help to those suffering from domestic violence. With a mission to bring awareness and funding to those affected by domestic violence, Hope’s Door does an exceptional job displaying the reality of these situations to the public, educating, supporting and being involved in the community,” SoRelle said.
SoRelle is proud to return for her third year as event chair. Stephanie Mattison, also in her third year, joins her as co-chair.
“We never turn away a family in need,” said Stephanie Funk, president of Hope’s Door’s board of directors. “However, our shelter operates at capacity 90 percent of the time. Just last year, we were forced to help more than 300 victims find alternative safe shelter because ours was at capacity. We’re thankful to the generous contributors who help us continue to strive to break the cycle of domestic violence in our community.”
Event sponsorship opportunities for “An Evening of Hope” are still available. For more information about Hope’s Door or to purchase event tickets, please visit hopesdoorinc.org.
