Fun Valentine's Day restaurants for singles do exist!

Hey, singles! No need to be down with Valentine's Day looming in the distance. With so many options, you won't want to sit at home alone with a bottle of wine and a bag of chocolate. Valentine's Day isn't a free pass to be pathetic. Below are a few spots you can go with friends and actually enjoy the evening.

Hill Country BBQ, 410 7th Street, NW: Conveniently located in Chinatown, it's a meat lover's paradise. Get down and dirty with five types of beef barbeque, two types of pork and two types of chicken. Yummy sides include mac and cheese, sweet potato mash and (of course) cole slaw. No need to pretty it up here! (202) 556-2050

Barcode, 1101 17th Street, NW: Trendy and often referred to as "the place to be" after work, the cocktails often steal the show. House-made mixers and nectars (syrups) make these cocktails dangerously delicious. (202) 955-9001

Cafe Citron, 1343 Connecticut Avenue, NW: Great happy hour specials abound here! Tuesday-Friday from 4-7:30 p.m., enjoy drink and food specials including cheap martinis and nachos. It gets loud and crowded, so get there early and don't bring a potential date. (202) 530-8844

Fado, 808 7th Street, NW: This popular Irish pub is large, yet cozy. Dim lighting and an artistic, interesting interior makes this a great meeting spot for small or large groups. Here's a tip: if there's a home Caps game going on, you may want to pass this place by. It'll be overflowing with fans. (202) 789-0066

Medium Rare, 3500 Connecticut Avenue, NW: Yum! A simple menu so you have more time to gripe about being miserable and single. (Seriously, don't do that.) Its prix-fixe menu is $19.50 per person and includes artisan rustic bread, mixed greens salad and steak served with frites and a secret sauce - it's divine. (202) 237-1432

Ripple, 3417 Connecticut Avenue, NW: A farm-to-table restuarant, expect a little more sophistication when it comes to the menu. The menu is seasonal and changes daily. Ripple has a great variety of wine and cheese selections, and the desserts are scrumptious. (202) 244-7995
