Fun things to do this weekend on Long Island

Yet another busy and fun-filled summer weekend awaits Long Islanders with some unique events, including a classic boat show, a grand music festival, street fairs, concerts and more. Check out some of what’s happening.

Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 15

The 6th Annual Great South Bay Music Festival, Shorefront Park, Smith St., Patchogue

The Great South Bay Music Festival is one of the largest “American themed” music, arts and cultural festivals on Long Island, and it’s happening this weekend. This year’s event features 45 musical performers on three stages playing a wide variety of wonderful musical styles, including rock, jazz, country, folk, funk and more, as well as an Artisan’s Bazaar, vendors, food and plenty more. Classic Boat Fair and Maritime Art Show, Community Boat Shop, 301 Bluff Rd., Amagansett

The East End Classic Boat Society presents its annual event this weekend, featuring all sorts of classic wooden boats on display, boat building demonstrations, unique displays of maritime art, and much more. Friday, July 13

1st Annual 50/50 Competition Series Best in Photo Exhibit, Long Island Photo Gallery, 467 Main St., Islip

This Friday, the Long Island Photo Gallery celebrates its grand opening with a showcase exhibit featuring the best in photographs taken by Long Island photographers. Visitors get to vote for their favorites and entrants get a shot at winning some fabulous prizes. Admission to the exhibit is free and the event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Check out the Long Island Photo Gallery for more.

The Ekphrastic Poster Show, Sip This, 64 Rockaway Ave., Valley Stream

Ekphrasis is an artistic medium in which a type of poetry is used dramatically to describe a work of art, and this unique display combines the talents of poet Christina M. Rau and photographer Kaeti Wigeland in a visually and poetic exhibition. This opening night reception includes music by Phil Reinstein and a chance to create some work of your own. Food and drink will be available and the exhibit runs at Sip This through mid-August. Check out the event’s Facebook page for more information.

The Secret Gardens of Islip Garden Walk, Starting at Caroline’s Floral Shoppe, 341 Main St., Islip

Enjoy a beautiful summer afternoon stroll through various private gardens throughout Islip as some board members and friends of the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet open up their blossoming spaces to the public. The four-hour walk begins at noon and the cost is $12 per person and no one under the age of 16 is admitted. Light refreshments will be served at each location. Sounds of Summer Concert Series – Kris Allen in Concert, Tanger Outlet Center at the Arches, 152 The Arches Circle, Deer Park

Come down to the Arches Outlet Center in Deer Park this Saturday at 6 p.m. to see American Idol winner Kris Allen perform songs from his new album, “Welcome Home Camellia.” Check out Tanger for more.

35th Annual Mattituck Street Fair, Love Lane, Mattituck

Any summer afternoon is splendid in such a historic and charming town as Mattituck, and this Saturday there’s even more reason to enjoy its beauty and appeal as it puts on its 35th Annual Summer Street Fair, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Everyday People – Motown and More, Theater Three, Main Street, Pt. Jefferson

Theater Three of Pt. Jefferson presents the very talented cover band Everyday People as part of their summer concert series. Featuring Carolyn Droscoski, this group of four musicians combine years of experience to bring out the best in rock and roll, Motown, and classic party tunes in a show that’s not to be missed. 2nd Annual Villa Monaco’s Thrilla at the Villa, Villa Monaco Restaurant, 778 Montauk Hwy., West Islip
