Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer and, for many Coloradoans, it’s a weekend to get out and have fun in the sun with one of the many events around Denver.

#1 A Taste of Colorado

When: August 29 – September 1

Hours: Friday: 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday & Sunday: 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Monday: 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m.

Where: Civic Center Park, Broadway and Colfax – Downtown Denver

Every year, downtown Denver becomes the bustling epicenter of Colorado when A Taste of Colorado sees more that 500,000 people walking up and down the streets around Civic Center Park. The event is the highlight of the summer with more than 50 food booths featuring restaurants from up and down the Front Range. Many folks come for the food, but stick around for the live music with well-known musicians, the KidzStage that highlights clowns and puppets for the little ones, and a classic carnival rides. Admission is free all weekend, but food and ride tickets can be purchased at several booths throughout the park.

#2 Amazing Urban Scavenger Hunt - Denver

When: September 1, 2014

Hours: Begins at 9 a.m.

Where: Begins at the Capitol Building – Ends at the Brown Palace Hotel

If you want to experience downtown Denver like never before, enjoy the walking tour/scavenger hunt from the Capitol Building to the Brown Palace Hotel for a two-mile adventure where you will take photos, uncover clues and take challenges at famous landmarks along your route. Where: Denver Mart 451 E. 58th Ave., Denver, Colo.

The Celebration Metaphysical Fair is one of Denver’s finest indoor events during Labor Day weekend. The fair brings together mediums, tarot readers, healers and an array of retail exhibitors from across the state. Visitors can get tarot readings and browse the many booths to purchase some of the state’s best metaphysical and healing crafts. Don’t miss this annual event. Come prepared to be enlightened. Admission is $7, cash only at the door, each day.
