Germantown Community Theatre in Germantown, Tennessee has some great fun for kids on Saturdays in October and November, 2013. They have three different programs designed for particular age groups.
The first program is "If I Were a Bug." It is scheduled for Saturdays Oct. 19-Nov. 9, 2013, 9:30am-11:30am, and is for ages 4-8. "If you were a bug, where would you live? What would you eat? Who would you know and what would you look like? Are you a creepy-crawly or a fluttering winged creature? Students ages 4-8 will discover their own imaginative world and characters through the exploration of sound, movement and acting. A final presentation for friends and family will take place on the stage of the theatre on the last day of class."
Program two, “The Art of Storytelling” is for ages 8-11, and meets from 12:00pm - 2:00pm on Saturdays, Oct. 19 - Nov. 9, 2013. This class is taught by Rebecah Hatchel, and is described as follows:
"Whether it’s scary stories around the campfire or the retelling of classic fables and fairytales, who doesn’t love a great storyteller? Join us and learn how to bring vivid characters and events to life for an audience. Students ages 8-11 will explore the art of compelling storytelling through acting, vocalization and movement exercises. The class will collaborate to create their own theatrical storytelling experience to share on the last day of class with friends and family."
Program three, “Beyond the Curtain” is for ages 10+ and meets from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on Saturdays, Oct.19-Nov. 9, 2013. It is taught by Rob Aymett, and is describes as:
"Join us as we pull back the curtain and reveal that there is more to a show than the actors on stage. Learn the important elements of lights, sound and stage design with Rob Aymett. Students ages 10+ will get hands-on experience in the GCT tech booth and will collaborate to prepare a final theatrical presentation to share with friends and family on the final day of class. *Students in this class will receive one free student ticket voucher to see GCT’s production of Black Coffee, to study the use of technical elements in the show."
Class Fees or $85 and registration is open and will continue until each class reaches maximum capacity.
These programs will not only be fun for the kids, but will be a very valuable learning experience about the theatre.
