Undoubtly the biggest sports event the Super Bowl has come to the Big Apple and the Garden State and with it being in my backyard, this football lover is more than excited to explore some of these great events. If you're in town for the big game or a resident of the Tri-State area (why not give Connecticut some love too); there is plenty to do and see and in all price ranges.
Why not start with the numbers. Super Bowl XLVIII (48) numerals that will be shining brightly on Broadway. With an unveiling that will take place on Wednesday at 6 pm the highly anticipated bright lights on Broadway will stand at 20 feet tall. During the unveiling, fans will enjoy the sights and sounds of The Boys Choir of Harlem, music from the Tony and Grammy winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys and a performance by New York City’s legendary dance company, the Rockettes. The numerals will be located between 42nd and 43rst streets and are the perfect background for group photos and those selfies. Open to the public, January 29 - February 1, from 12 pm - 10 pm.
Super Bowl Boulevard Engineered by GMC
Now the Super Bowl is the brightest and biggest light on Broadway. For four days, Broadway becomes Super Bowl Boulevard Engineered by GMC. Covering thirteen blocks along one of the world's most famous streets, the Boulevard will be the epicenter for NFL fans during Super Bowl XLVIII celebrating all things football. Fans can come to the Blvd. to engage with the NFL, the New York/New Jersey Host Committee and the League's broadcasting partners and sponsors. This opening act will run from Wednesday, January 29 - Saturday, February 1, from 12 pm - 10pm.
NFL Shop at Super Bowl, Macy's Herald Square
The world’s most famous department store on 34th Street, Macy’s Herald Square has turned into Super Bowl Central. From now until Feb. 4th on the 4th Floor, is where you will find the biggest assortment of Super Bowl merchandise. From NJY/NJ themed products and customizable merchandise to branded items just for us ladies and stylish tees from the Touch line by Alyssa Milano. Visit Macy's from 10 am - 10pm daily, located at Macy's Herald Square 34th Street and Broadway.
Super Bowl Virtual Theater
While you're still at Macy's? Why not stay for the video show on their storefront. This film is an unforgettable immersive 3D experience with stunning visuals and a powerful soundtrack is a visual celebration of football. The shows will begin at 5:30 pm nightly and run between 8-10 minutes every 30 minutes until 9:30PM. The videos will run as they are saying in the rain, sleet or Hail Mary. Located at Macy's Herald Square 34th Street and Broadway.
GMC presents FREE Autographs and Concert Stage presented by Pepsi
From 12PM - 5PM daily, the autograph stage offers FREE autographs from some of your favorite NFL stars. A list of all NFL players signing on the autograph stage engineered by GMC can be found here. Then at 8PM, the stage transitions into a great Concert Stage presented by Pepsi that will come alive with some of the best talent New York has to offer. January 29 - February 1, between 39th & 40th streets.
Toboggan Run Engineered by GMC
What has been coined a must-see, must-do winter experience the
Toboggan Run Engineered by GMC promises to provide great memories for adults and kids alike. Tickets are $5 to ride this 60 feet tall, 180 feet long, 8-lane run. The Toboggan will be open from January 29 - February 1 and is located between 40th & 41st streets and will be open from
12 pm - 10 pm and tickets can be purchased at the ticket kiosks located at the plaza adjacent to 1095 Avenue of the Americas (Met Life building at the southwest corner of West 42nd Street and the Avenue of the Americas) or at the NFL Shop at Super Bowl in Macy's. Kiosks are open from 10am-9:30pm.
