Update 8/20/14: Liberty and Lyric have been rescued!

An adoption coordinator from the non-profit organization, United Hope for Animals, has reached out to the National Dog News Examiner for assistance for two exuberant puppies who desperately need to be rescued from a busy animal control facility in southern California.

The adoption coordinator wrote:

We have a pair of amazing young dogs in urgent need at Baldwin Park if you are able to do another Baldwin-based story. Liberty A4732233 and her sister Lyric A4732234 were dumped at the shelter by their former owner on July 10 for no given reason. We can't imagine why someone would give them up.

She added:

These lively 9-month old girls both aced their shelter-administered temperament tests, and are gobs of fun. They love being with people, and they are born retrievers! I think they would do anything for a squeaky tennis ball. They walk decently on leash (I can walk them both comfortably at once), and appear to be housebroken. Although active and athletic dogs, they settle down nicely, and enjoy a good snooze.

They both appear to be healthy. Liberty and Lyric have a blast together and are happy being kenneled together, but we they can be rescued/adopted separately.

Though the pups are healthy, beautiful and fun-loving, they are not safe. Liberty is due out of the facility on August 15 and Lyric was due out today; thankfully, Lyric was granted an extension.

Time in not in their favor and they are in need of a helping hand to find a loving, safe place to go before their time runs out.
