For summer outdoor activities, people should consider visiting Keystone, CO and its village, off of River Run Rd. Keystone’s River Run Village is worth seeing because it resembles a small mountain-town. There are some neat looking apartments there along with restaurants, cafes and gift/clothing shops. There are also small places like Starbucks and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Many live concerts happen here in the middle of the village. Many time vendors sell their own food during the concerts. The next summer concert is on August 24th.
There are other events inside and outside this village. One is the bike-in movie event held each month on the first and third Thursdays. The “bike-ins” are at the Lakeside Village (not at River Run road). That means after bike riding, you can see a movie.
There are many bike riding trails in the Keystone area. As the keystoneresort.com website states, one of the bike riding trails circles around Keystone Lake. It is a beautiful scenic area.
Between the Lakeside Village and the River Run Village, there are also hiking, jogging and walking paths. The Friday Afternoon Club (FAC) and kids events are other events being offered. The above-mentioned website states that the FAC is from 4pm to 7pm, up until August 30th. That is held at the Summit House on Dercum Mountain and showcases live bands. You can eat there and, according to the keystoneresort.com website, play special activities, such as horseshoes, bocce ball, corn hole and others.
As summer fades away, you should plan on Keystone events during the winter season. In the winter, you can take advantage of Keystone’s famous gondola and ski the slopes. You can also snowshoe and socialize at the River Run Village.
You can do many things to spend a “vacation” day at Keystone.
