Freebies are always appreciated by the homeschooling family, and Easter is filled with free and fun activities for adults and children alike. Here are some of the events in the Louisville/Southern Indiana area:

Meijer: 11-2 p.m., April 3. Events include kid’s activities and giveaways, eggs and prizes, and samples of Easter food.

Michael’s: 10-1 p.m., April 3. Help your children decorate Easter pails for free.

Home Depot: 9-12 p.m., April 3. Geared toward children ages 5-7, adults can help their children make butterfly houses.

Bass Pro Shop: 2-3 p.m., April 3-4. Events include an Easter egg hunt and a 4x6 photo with the Easter Bunny. Come at 12 p.m. to make Easter decorations.

National Park Week: April 17-25 is National Park Week, which means admission is free for all 392 national parks, including Mammoth Cave and Big South Fork.

Adopt-a-Garden by The Louisville Zoological Garden: Volunteers needed to care and maintain adopted garden sites, April-November. This is a great opportunity to explain and investigate plant life. Volunteers receive free admission to the zoo, including behind the scenes events, meeting zoo keepers and horticulturists, and a they get to attend the volunteer dinner. Contact coordinator by calling 238-5350.

    Great article but your national park week link does not work :-) Me and my family including my home school daughter will use April 14th-15th for a science and history field trip!
