We've about had enough of the snow and ice here in the Carolinas so what to do now that it's (almost) gone? February is a great month....Black History Month, American Heart Association events this month and, of course, Valentine's Day!
Kids love February! Who can blame them when a chocolate-filled day filled with love and gifts falls right in the middle of the month? But, if you're looking for family activities that aren't centered around sugar, check out some fun and important dates below that give us other reasons to celebrate:
February 5 - Go Red for Women Wear Red Day - Heart disease is often known as the silent killer. It is also the No. 1 killer of women. Wear red on Friday and celebrate the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke.
Black History Month - Find many family activities related to Black History Month including an astronomy series at Settlemyre Planetarium at the Museum of York County in Rock Hill, SC. This program will be each Saturday during the month and features a program explaining how the slaves used the Big Dipper and a song to find their way north to freedom.
Since the weather is still a little cold, a day at Discovery Place to check out the newest exhibit Cool Stuff is a fun way to spend the day! Parents and children will enjoy exploring the new exhibit and study physics and find out what's cool about science. What better way to spend the day than lying on a bed of nails, launching objects into the air and more?
Have a fun February in Charlotte!
