As a stay at home parent, weekdays tend to be filled with one mundane task after another, and little attention is given to making weekend plans. Add to this the difficulty finding a babysitter and efforts to live within a budget, and you have the perfect recipe for another uneventful Saturday night at home. If you are ready for a change, Bowling Green's Family Enrichment Center has planned an event on February 20th that will provide entertainment for the whole family without breaking your budget and help prevent child abuse at the same time.
"Funniest Kids Around" is an annual event that gives local children with a great sense of humor an opportunity to perform for a live audience at the Capitol Arts Center. Chosen from auditions at the end of January, the show features children from kindergarten to sixth grade performing a three-minute act. Those chosen as the funniest in each age category will earn prizes, including savings bonds, and the grand prize winner will have the chance to perform live on WBKO. Last year's winner was even featured on "The Bonnie Hunt Show."
This event will be held at the Capitol Arts Center on Saturday night, February 20th. Participants will arrive by limousine for their red carpet entrance at 6:15, with the show beginning at 6:30. Tickets are $5 for adults and $1 for children, and all proceeds will go to support the Family Enrichment Center.
While only one child will leave with the title "Funniest Kid Around," everybody involved in this event will go home a winner. Children have the chance to be a star, families get a fun night out for very little money, and the Family Enrichment Center receives much needed funding. This will allow them to continue their efforts to help families in the Bowling Green area, including respite childcare, parenting education classes and support for adoptive families.
