Fun events for DFW pet lovers this weekend!

This is shaping up to be another fun-filled Fall weekend in the Metroplex, with plenty of events for pet-lovers.  Don’t miss out on the fun.  Make plans now to attend one – or all!

Friday, October 21st

-Collin County Humane Society’s annual “Give A Dog A Home” Gala takes place Friday night from 7 p.m. to midnight at the 42nd Floor, Cityplace Conference Center, 2711 North Haskell in Dallas.  Tickets are $100 and must be purchased online in advance only.  For more information, check out “Give a Dog A Home” Gala Saturday at Cityplace

Saturday, October 22nd

-Tails and Trails, the Denton Animal Shelter Foundation’s annual fundraising event takes place this Saturday ,October the 22nd beginning at 8 a.m.  The event takes place at the North Texas Fairgrounds in Denton and features a 5K run, 1 mile pet walk, 2 free live concerts, a silent auction, a parade of shelter dogs available for adoption, a pet costume contest, over 40 pet-friendly vendors, and activities for kids, adults and pets.  For more information, read “Tails and Trails 5K and fundraiser Saturday benefits Denton Animal Shelter Foundation

-Howloween runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas.  Enjoy pooch- and people-friendly games, fabulous food from a fleet of food trucks, a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt through the soon-to-be-completed Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, and family favorites such as bobbing for apples, a bounce house, cotton candy, face painting and more.  The event is free.  For more information, visit the SPCA of Texas website.

-Texas Humane Legislation Network and Operation Kindness will host the 1st Annual Bad to the Bone Fundraiser & Silent Auction Benefit this Saturday, October 22nd from 7:30-10:30-pm at the home of at the home of Kelly and Scott Hershman, 14918 Lake Forest Drive in Dallas.  The biker-themed event will include a silent auction, an open bar, a DJ, a “candy” bar, and great food from The Woodlands American Grill.  For more information check out “Bad to the Bone Saturday benefits Operation Kindness and Texas Humane Legislation Network.

-The 2nd Annual Deep Ellum Pup Crawl and Poker Run benefits Greyhound Adoption League of Texas.  A Pup Crawl is like a pub crawl, with fabulous drink specials at each stop, but in this case you get to bring your dog along.  There’ll be a Poker Run and raffle as well.  Registration is only $25 and includes poker, an event tshirt, and a doggie bag.  Dogs of all breeds are welcome.  Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. and the crawl begins at 1:30 p.m.  Participating Deep Ellum establishments include Urban Paws, St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin, The Bone, Club Dada, Trees, and Reno’s Chop Shop Saloon.  For more information, visit the GALT website.

Sunday, October 23rd

-The Texas State Veggie Fair is returning to Dallas on Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hosted by DallasVegan.com, this completely vegetarian fair takes place at Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake and offers food, live music, arts, and other entertainment indicative of the established vegan scene in Dallas.   “Sunday’s Texas State Veggie Fair offers vegan food, games, prizes, live music and adoptable pets” for more info.
