Fun and funky knits to try (Video)

Was one of your New Year's resolutions to teach a tween or teen to knit? This is a great idea to help spread the enjoyment and the positive health benefits of knitting. Betty Junor is the author of "Fun & Funky Knits" with over 20 simple knit projects. A perfect book to help you get them started.

Using large knitting needles and some yarn in their favorite color, you will find them knitting these projects in no time at all. Betty will teach them to cast on, the knit stitch and bind off that's all that the projects require. The photographs are enlarged to see all the details. The step by step line drawings make it easy to follow. You will be their mentor, just in case.

Betty shows you what supplies will be needed, writes about different yarns and how to read a label. She shows how to start a new color and what to do for a dropped stitch. The projects include hats, handbags, fingerless gloves, some simple house socks and more. Knitted cords, fringe and pom pom instructions are a few of the embellishments included. Don't worry, the finishing techniques are all spelled out.

This is a great book to use as a teaching guide. It is colorful and these first time projects will be enjoyed. Even if teaching someone to knit/crochet was not one of your resolutions, why not add it and this book to your list.
