Naperville Ribfest, one of the most popular festivals in the Chicago area, is being held July 3-6, 2014 in Naperville, Illinois. The Fourth of July weekend is celebrated with lip-smacking ribs, refreshments, carnival rides, family fun, live music and fireworks at Knoch Park in Naperville, in the southwest suburbs on Chicago.

Fireworks celebrating Independence Day are always a crowd pleaser. Meijer's patriotic fireworks will be on Fri., July 4 at 9:30 p.m.. Gates are free after 7:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July so the community can enjoy the show.

True to its name, Ribfest attracts vendors from around the country to feature the tastiest ribs and to compete for the title of Best Ribs. This year's list of rib vendors includes:, Armadillo Rib and Que Co., Desperado's BBQ and Rib Co., Howling Coyote, MoJo's Rib Shack, Pigfoot BBQ, Smokin' Joes, Texas Outlaws, Uncle Bub's, Robinson's No. 1 Ribs, Sgt. Oinks, Colonel Dans and Porky & Beans.

The Family Area, sponsored by Naperville Bank & Trust, offers special activities for kids from noon to 8 p.m. each day of the festival. Family Area attractions include Miller Petting Zoo, Sponge Bob Bounce House, jousting, obstacle course and more. Family Fun Time special admission prices are $10 between 12 noon-3 p.m..Children 11 and under admitted free. Tickets must be purchased at the gate each day. Family Fun Time Carnival Days Mega Passes are $10 for unlimited carnival rides from 12 noon until 3 p.m.

Live music is performed on two stages, Navistar Main Stage and Ribber Stage, throughout the festival. Headliners include: Heartsfeld and BoDeans on Thurs.; Love and Theft and The Voices on Fri.; Rodger Hodgson (Supertramp) and the Destroyers and 7th Heaven on Sat.; and George Thorogood, Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat on Sun.

Ribfest hours are noon to 10 p.m. on all four days of the festival. Gate admission is $15 for adults and free for children 11 and under.

The Exchange Club of Naperville's Ribfest is a community fundraiser which benefits local agencies working towards the elimination of child abuse and domestic violence.
