Fullerton coach killed according to a report at Fox News from earlier today. The report says California State Fullerton assistant women’s basketball coach Monica Quan, and her fiance Keith Lawrence, were found shot to death in Quan’s car on Sunday night. Authorities found the bodies around 9 p.m. on Sunday after someone reported seeing Lawrence slumped over in his seat.
Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen said police currently have no suspects or motive for the killings.”It doesn’t appear they were robbed,” says Engen. “There’s no obvious motive.”
"The loss of any member of the Titan family causes our community great grief, but the loss of one of our own under these circumstances is indeed tragic and heart-wrenching," says university President Mildred Garcia. "We hope that Monica's family and friends will feel and be comforted by our support during this difficult time."
The couple were found dead at the top of a parking structure for the condominium complex they had recently moved into. Residents say a key-code is required for entry to the parking deck, and there are cameras throughout the complex.
"We moved here because it was so safe — Irvine was the safest city in America," Sharon Smith said. "I guess like anywhere else, we're going to have a few incidents. ... Nobody worries about living here."
Both Quan, 28, and Lawrence, 27, played basketball at Concordia University. Quan was in her second year as assistant coach for the Titans womens basketball team.
