The adventure continues this December. Audiences began the journey of Bilbo Baggins last Christmas in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey; and now, moviegoers prepare for the second installment: The Hobbit:The Desolation of Smaug. The film continues the story of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he and the company of dwarves head to The Lonely Mountain to reclaim the Dwarf Kingdom, Erebor, from the clutches of the dragon Smaug.
Already the film has buzzed the web with the first trailer, but hitting the web today is the movie's full trailer. If the first preview was enough to get you excited, then this new trailer will have you running to the theaters. The preview features a little more on the elves with the relationship of Legolas(Orlando Bloom) and Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly); as well as the scheming of the Elf King Thranduil (Lee Pace).
We briefly see Gandalf (Ian McKellan) who heads to Dol Guldur to face the Necromancer (Benedict Cumberbatch); not to mention seeing a little more on Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans). However one the biggest selling points of the trailer is the theme of blind desire. The trailer shows us what the quest is doing Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and how his desire to reclaim his homeland is becoming an obsession.
Yet of all the things to see in this trailer, none is as prominent as hearing Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) speak. To put it simply, this is a voice that you will not soon forget for its shear power; and it all the more reason why you should watch the trailer again and again.
Bottom line, this is a must watch for fans of the book and the movies. Plus, with Gravity hitting theaters this weekend, it would come to no shock to see this trailer attached to the upcoming film. If it is, it just one more reason to head to the movies this weekend and await December for the next story of The Hobbit.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug arrives in theaters December 13.
