Full time or part time childcare for your child's needs (Video)

Childcare centers are consistently updating their services to meet the needs of both parents and children. There are now many options for the hours that your child will spend in childcare. Working parents have the option of full-time or part-time childcare to meet their needs and to fit their work schedules. Stay-at-home parents may also choose to use childcare, and the part-time schedules that many centers are offering now are a great choice for both parents and young children. Stay-at-home-parents like to use part-time childcare for days that they need to run errands, do grocery shopping, and go to appointments. Part-time childcare is also a great option for the child.

Part-time childcare can be a great way to introduce your young child to other children. Social skills can be learned by spending a few hours during the week in a childcare classroom. Sharing toys, talking with other children, and learning to be comfortable around other adults are all benefits for a young child who spends a few hours in childcare each week. Young children who attend childcare for only a few hours each week also have access to beginning learning skills. Young children can be introduced to learning skills at a slower pace and with developmentally appropriate practices by attending a childcare classroom for two-three days a week. Children who have been at home with a stay-at-home parent often have difficulty separating from the parent when they do begin a pre-school or kindergarten program. Beginning with a part-time childcare schedule can ease your child into separation and successful future school attendance when it is time to go to kindergarten.

Sarasota is fortunate to have several childcare centers that offer part-time programs for young children, with The Church of the Palms Early Childhood Center adding a new part-time care program with several options. The Church of the Palms Early Childhood Center is offering a Monday-Friday pre-kindergarten program with two choices for attendance time. Your 4-year-old may attend the Voluntary Pre-K classes from 8:45-11:45, or from 12:30-3:30 Monday-Friday. There is a third choice for the VPK program on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 until 2:00. There is a part-time program for 3-year-olds from 9:00 until 12:00 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All of these part-time options are available and offer parents and young children choices that fit every schedule.

The Church of the Palms Early Childhood Center is located at 3224 Bee Ridge in Sarasota. The director invites parents who are interested in part-time care to call 941-921-7892 to schedule a tour of the childcare center.
