This season of “Full Throttle Saloon” has been quoted as the “year of left turns” and Monday night’s episode aired on TruTV, December 30, at 10 P.M. ET was no exception. It seems that whatever can go wrong for Michael Ballard, will go wrong! Ballard is near his breaking point trying to keep the “Full Throttle Saloon” in the green, getting his new Sloonshine selling and dealing with a pregnant wife.
Running such a large biker bar during a 10-day rally that brings bikers in by the thousands is no small feat. How Ballard manages to pull it off year after year is what makes this Reality TV show so interesting. The bikers party and have a great time, all while being oblivious to the behind the scenes chaos that TruTV allows viewers to see.
In this episode, Michael has just purchased a huge truck to keep the mountains of garbage hauled away from the property. Just as the $18,000.00 truck rolls in, the driver loses control and the truck rolls onto its side. Michael is so mad his dred locks nearly straighten out! If the garbage doesn’t get moved quickly, the bar is going to be fined and Ballard has enough financial problems.
He would prefer to fire the driver, but Angie jumps to the driver’s defense telling Michael that:
He is a nice guy and accidents happen here all the time, Michael!”
Ballard tells the driver that his only job is to fix that truck and get the garbage moved.
“I don’t care if he has to move it in his pick-up truck! I want it off this property!”
The truck is being worked on and things settle down for a bit. Perhaps things will run smoother now, right? Not so fast! Another left turn hits Ballard in the face when one of the security guys points out some camera footage. The “Full Throttle Saloon” has cameras all over the property and a security crew that monitors them constantly.
Ballard knows exactly what his employees and patrons are doing all of the time and any wrong doing is quickly caught by security. This particular piece of footage shocked Ballard as they pointed out a long time employee stealing money. The employee had been with the Full Throttle saloon so long that Michael and Angie considered him family.
There was no denying the footage as Michael watched in disbelief. The employee was selling food and instead of ringing it into the register, he was tossing it into his own tip jar. Michael told security to bring him in, confronted him and then called the police.
“I don’t steal to pay my bills and I don’t expect people to steal from me to pay their bills.”
One of the highlights of this episode is when viewers get a rare look at Jesse Dupree’s wife Penny, who makes a surprise visit. Jesse has been trying to get her to come to the Full Throttle Saloon for nearly 15 years and she finally does. Penny is thrilled to hear about Angie’s pregnancy and the two women share a touching talk on the subject. According to Angie, Penny “wished” the pregnancy on Angie by praying for the Ballards to have a child.
Oh, and the guys in the band Jackyl are still working on a stunt for Jesse to do on Jackyl Band Night. Let’s just say it involves a very “itchy” straight jacket. Now whether they will actually pull it off or not remains to be seen.
