Full of grace

So once again I quote from Pastor Scott at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Downers Grove, because the message is what the congregation needs to hear at the given moment, some more than others, and many outsiders that should be listening to this one.

Full of grace and what does that really mean? It means that if we drop the ball even if we are the best catcher in the world as the Pastor comments, we don't have to listen to the words that we are not good enough. That, instead, we are full of grace.

We do not have to listen to the words of our past that talk about our being too thin, not beautiful, because those will surely destroy our future. That is not the journey to graceful beginnings. And if you blow the game of becoming the best in your career, relationship, or just your day to day existence, you have another chance especially if you are able to read this article. It all depends on how you perceive and what you do with it. It could be about grace instead. Grace in understanding and letting go.

Shameful scars, filthy stains and broken pieces are such wonderful phrases that describe the unnecessary pain and hurt that cause and help inflict pain. We have made mistakes, we will make mistakes today and if we are still here tomorrow, perfection is just not an option. We don't have to carry the burden of addiction, infidelity or poor choices; there is always another moment in time. But if we fear those changes, we will remain...nothing more, nothing less.

What we feel and how we act is our reality. When we are in pain, shame or an insecure place, we decorate the room with its darkening colors and disillusioned art work. We judge and criticize others for the same. And the cycle goes on until we decide to break it.

Living in grace means that there is no idyllic life.... but what about love? By living in perfect grace....do we have a chance for unconditional love? Are we going to recognize it when we have it? Or are we going to throw that away too?
